we've had lots of wind.

BTW, why is it so danggone hard to find GL polish?? It's like they've dropped off the map!

Dac, is that your house getting a porch? I didn't see any snow.

I wish I could help you out batty and take some horsies.

It has been windy here, too.
But when I am in my kitchen all day, I don't notice the weather. i didn't know that it had rained so much today until I got off work and the mud was running down the road from the rain.
And there is a hole by my barn door now, I have to remember not to fall in it in the morning, I guess it is a caved in gopher hole,

And DH said he heard thunder.

The students come in shivering and I ask them if it is cold outside. And I don't have a sweater or coat on and they ask if I am cold, and I say no, its hot in the kitchen.
People always make comments because I never take a coat to work, but I work in a kitchen, and in and out of the ovens all day!
I can turn on the heater in my car while I drive, and it only takes me 5 seconds to go from my car to my kitchen, so I leave a coat in my car, just incase, but I don't wear it!

A bunch of us lundys get to go to the board meeting tonite and be recognized!

a student wrote me a cute note one day, it said I was the best lundy
ya know, how sometimes you combine two words into one on accident
so, now I am a lundy!

Pharmacy went well. I restrained myself from my craziness, called and talked to a nice lady. She pulled up the records, told me that there was a problem with my coupon card, in addition to my insurance not covering it, gave me the number to call for the coupon card to get it reissued, told me what to ask for from them so she could fix it over the phone, and then gave me her name so I could call her back specifically. I called the coupon people, got it reissued, got all the info she had asked for............called her back, gave her the info, she resubmitted it while we were still on the phone and got it all straightened out and waiting for me to pick up.

Fists of fury averted.

In other rage inducing news, my utilities bill this month was stupid. Water was ridonkulously high. Either I have a leak, or they're retarded. Because if I usually use 2 units of water a month....and the one time I left the hose running out back for 10 hours and used 12 units that month.........I should not have used 7 units this month having done absolutely NO abnormal water stuff. If anything, it should have been less. Sigh.

Yay for finding the right person to talk to Nella!
And if its a broken water line, I hope you find it quick.
Are you on your own well?
We recently had to have all the pipes going down to the pump replaced, we have a submersible pump.

Good morning everyone I hope you all have a nice day.

Hooray for Friday!

I am going to spend this 3 day weekend organizing my house.

I sure am enjoying my recliner

What, knocking at my dooor at 5am?

This is a question asked a bunch of times, and I've read the answer, but I forgot the answer.

I have never candled an egg, don't know how. But, how many days do you have to wait?
Also, if a hen has set on some possibly fertile eggs, and you were out of town, how many days can she set and you can still eat them without a chick starting to develop?

Yep, one of my hens went broody while I was gone last weekend. Son didn't collect the eggs.

Now my rooster is tiny, and I've seen him try to mate with the big girls, but it looks like he can't reach. But my two silkies, I'm wondering if he was able to fertilize them, so I've left their eggs in the nest, cuz I just would not want to crack open a partially developed chick.

Oh my, guess I should try and move her and those eggs, wait 21 days and see what happens.

The big girls are still laying eggs under her.
Maybe I do not like having a rooster. I never had one for any amount of time before.
But, DH rescued this one, found it in the bush, looked like a dog may have gotten it. He is so cute and so far is not attacking.

I guess he is a bantam game, since game is what all the wild chickens are around here.

Lots of yummies there!

Last night on the news I saw a horse had to be rescued out of a canal it slipped into when spooked, in AZ.

You can candle this weekend. But if you have the space, move the hen where more eggs can't get laid under her and see what she does. If she stays clamped down on the eggs then see what happens. But she may get up and wander away, which means either taking your chances or throwing them away.

We had a bantam rooster fertilize the standard birds' eggs, and even when the embryos started they never survived to hatch. I think the baby was too small to bust out of the egg. But other people have had some that hatched.

Gotta leave for the show today. I'll be gone after 12pm....

BTW, a n00b wants my auction eggs really badly, and has exceeded my max limit. So I guess I won't be hatching any shipped silkie eggs any time soon.
I am saddened but secretly relieved.

Oh thanks, wegot.

I have a friend who's husband candles so maybe he can help me out.
This hen always goes broody, so there's a good chance she will stay till they hatch if they are fertile.

She is a white hatchery silkie and he is a black roo.
Ya, they will be mutts, but that is ok!

Well, he should be able to fertilize her eggs, for sure. Can you pick hers out of the the others in the nest?
