75 mph gusts again today, This is like the 4th or 5th day in a row. How much wind is there? You would think that eventually it would run out and need to take a break and recharge.

Yeah, and I wanted to find a smug smiley....

Whatever works. As long as I share my addiction I am happy. I should have a badge that says 'enabler' on it!

There. Now I do.

This is why you have to help.....
This baby was so large if not for the assistance, it would have suffocated in the womb. The mare was struggling to keep pushing.

These people are clearly novices. you can see the baby trying to breathe and they won't tear the placenta. You can see the legs aren't quite in the right position. they are slightly crossed and causing the mare difficulty.
They also pull the baby out too high and are not supporting it's head. Oh and fyi, if I was there I'd smack the guy trying to get that poor mare up. If he wants the cord broken so badly all he had to do is pull the baby around to the mare's head and it would snap and the mare could lick her baby while she rested.

In this one, again the legs are not in correct position. The one leg is tucked too far back. This guy at least moved the placenta so the baby could breathe.

This mare is a "red bag". Very problematic and usually must have assistance just to break the placenta and getting the foal out quickly. With a red bag, the placenta is detached prematurely and the foal stops getting blood and can die before it foals.

This is on a Tb farm. mare inside, on straw. One person holding legs and pulling the other supporting the head as the foal is born.
FYI Forest Wildcat died in august of 08. This would have been one of his last foals. He stood in 2008 for $35,000. T

Gonna go check the mare again then go lay down. I have to work tonight

ETA: she's facing the tree line way up over the hill....kind of gives the impression she's in time out. I do feel bad for her. If she'd just have the thing she'd feel so much better.

The sun rises over mountains in Tennessee, too.

I'd like to visit AK, but not until the snow melts. And then I've been told your mousquitos are big enough to fly in supplies if you could train them....

Nope, not true. They're the same size as mosquitoes in the lower 48. They make up for it in numbers, there are a lot more, swarms.
