Ended Official 2021 BYC Other Fowl Molt Contest

This is our goose, Argyle, who decided to molt all of her flights on both sides at once I guess.

Bee did that once! It was so sad to watch her try to scare of the encroaching wild geese…😅 She’d show her stubby wing span, (the “big guns,”) to the Canadians in an effort to shoo them off. They probably would’ve laughed if they could.

Bee(tlegoose,) my embden goose had mooted a ton of feathers on her wings, but they seemed to skip every other feather! Not so majestic, let alone intimidating to the wild geese!
The new feathers have since sprouted, but they’re still tiny! I hope to get a photo soon.

Beetlegoose... best name ever! I love that!! :love :gig:clap

A work in progress. This is usually my most photogenic girl. She’s just started, so I’m sure it will just get better. I just couldn’t resist documenting her Turken impression!

Edited to add: Her feet aren’t actually disturbingly purple. It is the first cold morning, so they are a bit pink, but the photo changed that pink to a more worrisome color while not highlighting the pink skin of her neck!

Just a couple of updated pictures - she has a single black feather on her head and her underside is only down! Her wing feathers are hanging on by a thread.

I've never seen any of mine molt the neck clean like that. That's so interesting. She's probably gonna do a fast and hard molt by the looks of it.

That’s the way she rolls. She waits for the first genuine cold snap, then drops all of her feathers starting from the top. She’s also my least cold tolerant bird, so she has a sad and shivery couple of weeks. However, she pushes her new fresh feather suit out as quickly as possible. Thats part of why I had to get pictures today, as her neck feathers will probably be half grown in by the weekend!
