Close! Rhode Island Reds are “black tailed red.” A brown red bird would look like a black copper Marans. He's a brown-red color?
Thank you! New to this lol so many different variations it makes my head spin and to find good description it's seemingly impossible for me...or I'm failing completely to understand! I need a crash course in featheringClose! Rhode Island Reds are “black tailed red.” A brown red bird would look like a black copper Marans.
Yeah, plumage color names don’t make sense. “Brown red” isn’t really brown or red, it’s more of a “gold black.” That’s why I prefer the term “gold birchen” since its more accurate or “red birchen” in the case of Marans since they have the mahogany gene.Thank you! Gold Birchen would make a lot more sense! It probably would make it easier to if Birchen was called Silver Birchen as well just to clarify even further. This is Tiny, a silver-laced Wyandotte. I wanted to also get a photo of her wings spread, but she unexpectedly passed away yesterday morning, so these are the best photos I have.
Thank you!Sorry for your loss, she was a pretty girl.
