Awwww! Gorgeous photo. Sorry about the wing but being taken good care of now ❤️

Phoenix looks like our old Samson 30 yrs ago (sadly no photo). Phoenix is a she? Usually females have much lighter rosey cheeks?

Cockatiels are great birds. They give you the fun and intelligence of a parrot without the giant mess of a parrot. We also had a Blue-fronted Amazon, English Budgerigars, and American parakeets and the most fun were the Cockatiels.

I was thinking phoenix looks like a male as well with those bright red cheek patches. But if I look back my female also had some really bright red cheek patches and she was a female 100% as she laid eggs multiple times. And her patches looked just like my male
Sadly my female passed away a week and a half ago. There’s also the ones who don’t have cheek patches like my new baby.

Yes, Phoenix is actually a boy, I decided that last year, but it's kind of hard changing the habbit of calling him a she after six years of doing so. 🤣

Yes, Cockatiels are the best! We only have the one at the moment, but she's perfectly happy with the company of her three budgies!

Cockatiels ARE the best as house birds. Actually we often mingled our Blue-fronted Amazon & Budgies w/ our Samson and they got along. Of course we socialized them a lot too.

Our rescue Cockatiel PeeWee already had prior habits and vocabulary. Imagine my surprise when I came out of the shower to one of his wolf whistles!

PeeWee went on camping trips w/ his prior retired owners so he was perfectly content to sit in our car behind me ~ when we stopped at an intersection he wolf-whistled at pedestrians EVERY SINGLE TIME to my embarassment! Hey! not me! the bird, really!

He whistled the Andy Griffith Show theme and he would say "Freeeeeee!" at the end of the mattress commercials.

Ahhh! Memories! :love
