Ended Official BYC 2024 Summer Fair—Indoor Plant Show

I wouldnt say it is too difficult to grow from seed, but they take FOREVER from seed so it might be years before it gets to the size in the picture. I'd start with plants and try seed on the side if you have patience. But again you can buy plants from them that are a small size that would have taken 3-5 years to grow so that's nice too!
Thanks for the info, I may give seeds a try! 😊

So, question, do plants that are kept outside during the summer (2-3 months) count in this contest? I have houseplants that are beautiful but I move them outside for the summer, and back in for the winter. Obviously outdoor lighting is nicer, so I want to take pics outside but I don’t want to get disqualified.

Entry #1. My Ficus Elastica, purchased earlier this year from my local Costco.

I don't see anything that says you can't do that. Also if you don't grow outside during the summer and can, you're messing up! I think a container plant that lives most or even half the year outside is still considered a house plant, personally that is..

Yes, it's allowed. There are no rules about the location of our plants, just that it has to be a houseplant.
