I just checked to see, and I've read and rated 1,002 articles here. Of my own, I only have four, and there's no AI in any of them, but I wouldn't shy from using it if I felt it was the best way for me to make a point. I can agree; there have been times I've been turned off by AI pictures as well, but I totally see their use in illustrating a point when we can't make a better one ourselves.
Other times, I've been greatly impressed with the use of AI to depict something clearly, sharp, and right to the point, which gets our attention.
Often, a person wants to use a picture from the internet, but we don't allow it unless they're certain it's not copyrighted. Now they can create something similar to what they can't copy.
If someone's got AI as their opening photo or somewhere in the article, but the content is well organized, flows well, is informative, has some of their own photos in there, links to other sources, etc., that's an article I rate higher. I would hold myself back from disliking a form of illustration if the rest of the content is worth it.
There are AI and plagiarism checkers, and if the content feels a bit suspicious, we can check for it.
There are some articles where the photos were so bad, I wish they had used AI.
