How long have you had chickens? I know that mine are variable in how severe the molt is from year to year and individual to individual.

I never saw a severe molt until last year (my third).

She looks quite funny with half of the feathers on her head missing! As I'm sure all chickens do this time of the year, this is a time of laughter and sorrow

Poor Alice really had a hard time. She was shivering from the cold.

Oh my gosh wow, this seems so fun. Something to take my mind off how I can't sell my eggs now that all my birds are losing feathers. Are there any tips to how to up their protien so I can speed up the process? Someone told me to make a maggot bucket, *warning this is really gross* were you can collect roadkill and put it in a protected place (FAR away from the house and coop for sure) and let them decompose and let the birds have at the maggots. I'm not sure I'm ready to go all the way to that though haha.

I could never do that! I get grossed out at maggots and larvae
