My Surly is sitting on eggs. Should have chicks on the 21st. I love when it works this way!!! They are cute, but I love having her to raise them. She has wanted to do this for a year, but we didn't have fertilized eggs until now.

I wish I had a broody!!! I want to set some eggs or give one these chicks and I don’t feel like setting up the incubator again.

Really, I did the same when Najika was broody. It looked like she had fluff overflow by her saddle. She was so dang poofed.

Incubating was the most stressful thing I ever did with chickens! I ordered some fertilized eggs for Surly last summer and they arrived the day after she changed her mind. So, I bought an incubator and got busy. Only one hatched and he is the father of the eggs she is sitting on now.

They are pretty special when they are fluffed up. Right now Surly is a flat blanket on her eggs.
