Not an entry, but as I went back through all of the posts I see where @N F C mentioned that she wouldn't mind seeing this shot of Katie again. Well, while I was at it I decided to add some other NON-entry shots of my girls with the chickens just to kill a little time while we anticipate some more entries..........and because I can never resist an opportunity to show off my amazing granddaughters!

To refresh, this was when she helped me put eggs for "her" broody hen Agatha and the first one hatched. I called her to come over and she and I went out to the coop. Finally Agatha moved just a bit and we got a quick glimpse the brand new chick before Aggie settled back down over him. Katie's head whipped around and she cried, "Gramma, I saw him!" Her wonder in the chickens, the chores, and the whole process has never changed.

Katie and her nose pressed to the incubator as her Silkie eggs hatch.
The following series of photos were taken last year. Usually our granddaughter Kendra is relegated to her wheelchair when she goes out to see the chickens, but she couldn't really get up close to them because of the grass and chicken poop. At that time her chair didn't have a separate chrome outer wheel for pushing, so she had to put her hands on the tires to move. Um, ewww! Sometimes I'd put her basket on her lap and let her bring in the eggs. This particular day her physical therapist and I had her out in her twister cable braces and were practicing with her walker when she pointed to the coop and said, "Chickens". So we parked her walker at the end of the sidewalk and Cindi helped her walk to the run where the chickens were.

She wasn't one bit nervous!

Here Cindi is just holding on to her waist belt - Kendra is actually standing and visiting with Ida, on the roost.

And with a little assistance, Kendra walked to the house carrying eggs for the first time! Yayyy, Kendra!!
