I was at war with mother nature for quite some time.

Win a battle, lose a battle.

Way too many loses on both sides.

I found my energies better spent on building a strong defence as others have suggested.

I don't even think about predators anymore.

He was just a baby.

I held him captive as a pet, until I finished my reinforcements.

I then released him knowing he was no longer my enemy nor threat.

He left with a full belly of my dogs food, lamb and rice, but not chicken

He returned often as he became very good friends with my dog...and I saw them often playing in the surrounding wooded areas.
 

This is one of my Buff Orpingtons who hatched out a duckling this summer. It was the only fertile egg to survive during the heat wave we had. It was too hot for it to be in the coop, so they stayed in a tote in the house until it cooled a bit.
