I consider myself a doodler rather than an artist but when my mom asked for a family portrait for her birthday, I thought it was funny to give her a doodle version. She ended up loving it so much she framed it in her place.

I doodle to relieve stress and meditate as well as create greeting cards for family and friends. I am a complete amateur but it is a wonderful way to stay focused and grounded in times of distress. ie....2020. The only sacrifice is my wallet! So many pens and pencils. I love to doodle whenever I can, which is quite a bit as I await back surgery.
Really love the details and yet simplicity.

When I'm not quilting or sewing for clients and friends, and I'm not feeding the chickens....I like to make fun things as gifts. I'm happiest when I am puttering on my longarm sewing machine such as this pair of wall quilts called "Stitch Happens." Trying new things also interest me and I recently started making egg aprons.

Those are beautiful! You have some mad skills :love

I love to cook and sometimes bake. I once made a birthday cake that my mother said had to be store bought... she actually argued with me about it. I crochet, but only one stitch. I watch birds which led me to photography. The chickens... and chicken math... If I was able bodied I would build things. I hoard information and recopies, but that is more of mental health issue than a hobby lol! I like to play games (not video games... more like card and board games). I buy old items and have a booth in an antique shop where I make a little bit of money on them. I've come across some very cool things.

That being said, I guess my 3rd hobby is online auctions. I am mobility limited so garage sales and estate sales are often too cumbersome to attend, so I find myself placing absentee bids in live auctions online... my source for the antiques I put in my booth at the antique & collectable store. I have acquired some cool things to display in the house.

I know I listed photography as a "former hobby" but I just fired off a few shots with my phone in bad lighting and with no effort. 20201121_091748.jpg Untitled attachment 04278.jpg Untitled attachment 04297.jpg Untitled attachment 04300.jpg Untitled attachment 04303.jpg Untitled attachment 04306.jpg Untitled attachment 04309.jpg Untitled attachment 04340.jpg

Rock & Fossil Collecting

As a kid I was interested in geology, paleontology, and mineralogy. One of my very first jobs was working at a countertop fabrication company because I just loved working with all of the beautiful granite and marble (ok, the pay was good too, lol!). I never really grew out of my love for rocks and fossils though and I still enjoy collecting pretty stones. I've even dabbled at lapidary tumbling, polishing and would like to get a lapidary machine to facet my own jewelry one day. It's not uncommon to find different stones throughout my house but my favorite pieces are primarily displayed in a display case and all of my amethyst is on the fireplace mantle.
