Ended Official BYC Mini-Contest - What’s Your Hobby

Pics
I would say that another one of my hobbies is cross-stitching, I mean I have an entire container full of cross-stitching material. But I refuse to go back to cross-stitching after I tried 4 projects and never had enough thread. Even when I was careful not to waste any. These companies always skimp out on the thread.

Does anybody cross-stitch successfully? Please tell me how you do it. :pop
Are you buying the kits or skeins? Do you separate the threads? Theyre usually 6 ply and need to be separated which can be a bit of a pain. I usually end up with leftovers. Although i havent cross stitched or embroidered since mini started walking (a VERY long time ago :lau ) and now we have cats which are just as bad or worse when it comes to sharp pointy objects.

Chickens are!

I desperately want to take up cookie decorating but I don’t think I have enough self control. 😹

Hoping I’m inspired to a new hobby here in this thread!
I'm pretty sure I know of a little human that would love to be your cookie sidekick helper!
We used to play marbles as kids. I absolutely loved my pretty marbles too! I wonder if they're still around somewhere...
**cough**
....
I don't even have to say it.
Those are beautiful! You have some mad skills :love
🥰 Thank You!!

I doodle to relieve stress and meditate as well as create greeting cards for family and friends. I am a complete amateur but it is a wonderful way to stay focused and grounded in times of distress. ie....2020. The only sacrifice is my wallet! So many pens and pencils. I love to doodle whenever I can, which is quite a bit as I await back surgery.
I love your doodle drawings, they are beautiful!! And certainly not to be confused with @jolenesdad 's doodle doodles.
Works like these actually inspire me because I want to make quilts like that.
I like to decorate cupcakes and cakes. I'm only a beginner, and I don't do it very often, though. I love being able to do whatever I want when decorating, being able to eye what looks good and wether to add more or stop.

I made an Elmo cake once. Only once.
Gorgeous quilting!!! Love the egg aprons too!
Thank you! :hugs

When I am stressed and need to relax I like to crochet and do "pointillism" with ink.

Hobby #1:

Marble collecting... I got a fairly large bunch of marbles maybe 6 months back. Since then, I acquired several more jars of them. Knowing next to nothing about them, I got several books about them and joined some Facebook groups and a marble forum.

I really like the variety and pretty colors. I have some peewees that are tiny and a very, very large signed marble with a good mix of everything in between. While I am certain I don't have anything very collectable, I am completely hooked.

I am just starting to buy individual marbles for their worth rather than huge jars in hopes of finding a perfect condition rare one.View attachment 2419621View attachment 2419622View attachment 2419623View attachment 2419624View attachment 2419626View attachment 2419627View attachment 2419628
Cool marbles!!
I love when marbles are in jars for decoration! ...
Me too!

I consider myself a doodler rather than an artist but when my mom asked for a family portrait for her birthday, I thought it was funny to give her a doodle version. She ended up loving it so much she framed it in her place.

Rock & Fossil Collecting

As a kid I was interested in geology, paleontology, and mineralogy. One of my very first jobs was working at a countertop fabrication company because I just loved working with all of the beautiful granite and marble (ok, the pay was good too, lol!). I never really grew out of my love for rocks and fossils though and I still enjoy collecting pretty stones. I've even dabbled at lapidary tumbling, polishing and would like to get a lapidary machine to facet my own jewelry one day. It's not uncommon to find different stones throughout my house but my favorite pieces are primarily displayed in a display case and all of my amethyst is on the fireplace mantle.

I was just looking again at your drawings and wanted to say I hope you get relief soon! :hugs

I am always making chicken beds for chicks to sleep on.

I love beads and making dangle earrings.
It started about 5 years ago when i decided to make a earring display hanger to keep my 50 year collection if my personal earrings organized. I was tired of digging through a box for the mates as it was frustrating and i needed a better way.
I chose an old wooden picture frame, a potato sack and some old chicken wire from the scrap pile.
I found a couple pair of my earrings that needed repair and gave it a try and found i enjoyed it.
Since then i have probably made over 500 pair with the intention of some day buying a slot at the farmers market and make some money.
But now with covid keeping us home and a husband with cancer who i am primary care of at home, dont see that happening soon.
I love trying different combinations, colors and design.
I designed and ordered a little ink stamp, cut and re-purposed some scrap paperboard from work and bought the little zip baggies.
Ive always liked working with my hands and have knitted and croshet since i was 12.
Beautiful pieces. All 500 that I could see. 💕

I am a birder, which is someone who is a little more serious about finding, identifying, documenting, and counting birds than a birdwatcher. I combine birding with bird and wildlife photography. I believe photography is a very important part of birding and bird identification. I love to go outside -- in my yard, neighborhood, or other place farther away like a park or lake -- and search for common and uncommon birds, count the species and number of individuals, and take photos of them. I lug over 6 pounds of equipment on my birding walks which can last several hours.

This is a Swainsons's Thrush I found in my yard. There were lots of them passing through my yard this fall.

Soooo sweet

I love doing collages of birds and other animals out of old magazines and hiding pictures inside
The creativity here is amazing! I LOVE the hidden photos.
