Official BYC Poll - At what age did your hen(s) start laying?

I have 2 barred rocks laying... (started at like 27 weeks..) and I got 1 buff orp egg twice, (I haven't had one since) and all the rest are freeloaders so far I am not loving my organic feed bill.. but I love my 2 barred rock pullets laying me 2 eggs per day!(1 each)

my lavender orpingtons started at 21 weeks, rhode island reds started at 19 wks
anyone need to buy some lavender orpington hatching eggs? I get about 6 per day

Average for me is 24 weeks, or 6 months. Some take closer to 32 weeks, and one pullet I had took over a year.

I should have hit every age too! My oldest were SQ Ameraucanas, who started at eleven months of age, layed eggs for a few months, and then quit. They were pretty though...

My Swedish flower chickens lay every day so far and they started to lay about 20 weeks. The 2 barnvelder hens- one is laying and the other is a freeloader. The barnvelder layed at 24 weeks. Do the freeloaders ever start producing?

I bought 2 EEs in Aug that were born in Mar. They both started laying 4-5 blue eggs/wk end of Sept. But I also have 2 SLW, 3 Cochin born midMay freeloading as well as 1 bantam Cochin and another EE born April freeloading. We feed soy-free organic. Grrrr. But the blue eggs are making up for it right now

8 Red Stars started laying at 20 weeks. Within one week all 8 were laying fully formed eggs.

My BR and BO both started laying around 19 weeks old, OE laid her first egg one day shy of 20 weeks, and EE laid her first egg at 23 weeks.
