We do a combination of things: my children always name some so that means names of all sorts (Indy, Mo, Blossom, Posey, Chippy, Potato, Naruto, Dora), we often choose traditional, old-fashioned names (Miriam, Sylvia, Nanette, Georgia, Pearl, Eleanor, Gladys, Olive, etc.), we name for color (Raisin, Turtle), we just pick names we like too. It's a big happy mix of fun names that always seem to suit the chickens perfectly. :)
