Whether you’re just getting started or managing a full-blown flock, every chicken keeper’s journey is a little different. Over the years, BYC has seen flocks grow, shrink, and evolve, and we thought it was the perfect time to take a fresh snapshot of where our community is today.

This poll is a quick and easy way to share the current size of your flock. No overthinking needed just choose the option that best reflects where you’re at right now. Even if you’re still in the planning or research phase, we’d love to hear from you!

It’s always fascinating to see the incredible variety of flock sizes across our community, from first-time chicken keepers to seasoned pros with decades of experience.

I have 7. Might add 3-4 next year, depending on if I get a broody

I have thirteen as of right now. I decided to downsize last Fall and sell a few to put toward my next coop. The ones I sold aren't going to be worth much come Spring, so I figured it best to sell them this Fall. The ones I have now, I might sell come Spring for the coop, then restart once I get the new coop built. That is, if I can get the coop next year.

I have 20 and have found it's easiest to count by breed or color! 4 of you... 2 of you.. haha

We started with 2 in April of 2013

We have had a many as 8 but are at 7 now.

I have 10 birds - 6 hens + 4 roosters in a rooster flock. I intend to breed them sometimes in the future.

My standard answer is "two," spelled T-O-O, as in "too many." At the moment, I'm officially at 16 ... again, spelled T-O-O.
