So far the cheapest option I've seen is about 50$ per 6'x8' section, putting in the sections I want myself (and family), will be about 3k.we wanted to do this for a long time and the chick's just gave me extra incentive to do it. I will take extra help though! 😅
I am too too far away. The $2.50 per foot includes the fence, poles, and clips. The sections are about $6.50 per foot no? A post driver will be about $30, a pair of pliers and patience. I found a technique to make gates with sections of fence woven into the fence on one side and hooked to catch the other. So far my first gate has lasted almost a year. Trim one column off and get a fresh set of hooks. Keeps chickens in and dogs out. Determined ones will always get in....or out...

How exactly do I figure out sq footage?? Math is not my thing. My cooper is 6×8 not including nesting boxes and if I remember correctly my run, which is getting expanded, is 10×12. We also have tons of roosting space inside and out.
Area=lengthXwidth so for a 6x8 coop you have 48 square feet and your 10x12 run has 120 square feet. Then you divide the area by the number of chickens you have.

  1. Inside space for my small bantams - 3.5 sq ft
  2. Run space per chicken - 20 sq ft
  3. Free-range space per chicken - infinitely large, there are no fences or boundaries. But only accessible if someone is at home.

I found that confusing, but the thread titles says it loud and clear, so I went with that.
Wondering how many did as you did?
Makes the poll kind of moot, IMO.....but I guess it's just for fun.
I voted 11+ at first too because my setup is coop + run. After reading the intro I changed it to 4.
This refers to the covered space with roosts and nest boxes they have for the night. They can leave this coop after sunrise (chicken guard). The coop is partly run too. But integrated with the sleeping area.

12.5 sq ft in run and 3.2 sq ft in coop. Welcome to Fort Knox.
