Inside my coop it is over 5 square feet per bird. (4x8 with six birds), but they have access to a shed that is 32 x 32 feet.
My fenced run it is over 100 square feet per bird.
Free range - they have no limits we have over 20 acres and they visit the neighbors pastures as well.

Coop space: 10 sq ft per chicken
Enclosed run: 30 sq ft per chicken
Free Range area: 400 sq ft per chicken

We have 19 hens who sleep and lay eggs in the coop and an auto door opens to the enclosed run where they hang out until I let them out to free range, normally around 8 or 9 am. They also use the coop area during rainy days but much prefer free ranging.

Thirteen of my chickens free-range all day and have about 6 square feet of space inside their coop at night, I have a 40 square foot tractor with three Sebrights (about 13 square feet per chicken), and then a converted dog kennel for three bantams, one SLW, and six 9-week-old chicks (about 9 square feet each).

We currently have 5.5 per bird with 133 sq feet of outdoor run space but we are geting alot more and it will drop down to 2 square feet in the coop when we get the new ones. We have some silkies that do not roost(sleep on the floor) in with the big girls. We also have a smaller coop that I can move the silkies and d'uccles to if the big coop becomes hostile. Our chickens are in the coop overnight only. Does anyone on here include roost space as square footage or just floor space?

Coop is 6 x 9 = 54 sq. ft. / 11 birds = 4.9 sq. ft. per bird.

Run is 16 x 16 = 256 sq. ft. / 11 birds = 23+ sq. ft. per bird.

They usually get to free range every day in the afternoon among 5 acres.

I keep around 50 in a 6x9. I clean it once a week and my birds are happy. I do not have a run. Mine have 25 acres to scratch around on. They all crowd on one side of the coop and about half of the roosts are empty. I built it for 10 but quickly realised i had plenty of room for more. Don't mean to sound rude but this is more of a common sense question. Do your birds have enough space?
