What breed? That is a ripe old age for a chicken.

I have 2 elderly gals both bantam cochins between 8&11 years old.
They are amazing as we just came through lows of -16.

I have two ee’s around 6 that still lay couple times a week

The oldest ever recorded hen was named Matilda. She lived to be 16! She never laid an egg and they attribute that to her long life. She was also an indoor chicken.

I've got 3 RIRs that will be turning 7 this spring. They are all doing pretty good for their age.

I've had three hens who lived to ten years of age. Two were very small black Jersey Giants, and one was a Belgian d'Uccle. Currently my oldest hen is five years old, another Belgian d'Uccle.
We've had losses to predation, reproductive issues, and some birds move to other homes. Our roosters can't stay forever and continually breed their offspring, so many of them are rehomed after a few years.

Here is my OEGB teaching her peachick that she hatched to eat mealworms. I think she was 6 or 7 in this video and lived to be 10 or 11.
