What age were they and what was the water "dish"?

Note : Had to retype this,, it was very glitchy when i typed the first time.

Dont know the age, they were hand-me-downs from the previous owners of my house. They drink from a small water trough, not fully filled, but enough to which they could get a good amount of water daily

You know whether or not they were poults or adults.

A water trough is not a proper water source for poultry.
It was in the middle of the summer, I wouldn't think it'd be hypothermia
It doesn't take much to cause hypothermia in young poults no matter what the time of year.

Poultry are prey animals. Once prey animals go into shock, they die very quickly.

Here, the wild hens are only with the wild toms during spring breeding season. After mating they make hidden nests as much to hide the eggs from the predators as to hide them from the toms.
That must be it. I will make note to see what the season that I go there to work out nesting time hence I do not see the turkey ladies
