I chose egg production because we depend on our girls for eggs, but it's kind of a catch-22. Because of the nasty heat here in the summer, we can't get egg production without hardiness, so they go hand-in-hand.

Definately personality for me. I don't care if the chicken is the prettiest most kept to standard bird who lays two or three eggs a day. If her attitude is bad, off with her head! Not really lol, but I recently rehomed a wyandotte hen I was having a personality clash with, and she was BEAUTIFUL! But her attitude was all wrong and that was her ticket out.
