I think it may only become a problem if you accidentally forget to feed them and they have to resort to eating the hay/straw. I don't use straw but I saw the video and decided that I wasn't going to even risk it.My birds don't eat the straw itself, just the very tips with seeds. Never had a case of impacted crop due to eating whole strands of straw. Been using straw for years.

I haven't seen them ingesting the hay, nor do either show any signs of impacted crop and have been using hay for a while.
