Raising chickens is fun and exciting & there are so many places to buy birds of all different kinds from. A good place many people start is the BYC Buy - Sell - Trade Forum section. So we would like to find out: Where Do You Get Your Chicks From?

I hatch chicks, let my broodies hatch them, buy from my local D&B, hatcheries, friends, family, and breeders. Yeah, I'm a bit addicted.

I get most of my chicks from the farm store, but I’ve gotten a few from a breeder, had broodies hatch a few, and hatched some in my incubator.

Thanks so much for using my poll idea!!!
I get mine from a breeder sometimes...
But usually I get them from a private business (not a hatchery or a feed store).
May I suggest something?

I get all game birds from a breeder in another state (it's a pain in the butt to drive there- they have nice birds, and they don't ship). All chickens/ducks come from TSC. Soon I will start hatching.

Currently we get most of our chicks from the feed store and a few from breeders.
Soon I will be getting some breeder quality Ayam Cemani eggs from someone to hatch out under a broody once the hen goes broody.

I get hatching eggs shipped to me from random sellers on eBay mostly. It allows me to get the breeds I want at ( sometimes) reasonable prices and I have gotten pretty good at hatching shipped eggs . Also have gotten hatching eggs from Deer Run Farm in Maryland, and chicks from a local Rural King and Meyer Hatchery in the past.
