Mine love dustbathing in my garden thats why I put up a fence around the garden this year. They also dustbathe wherever they want in the yard, and on the pots on the deck (that still have plants) they spray dirt everywhere.
I used some pavers to wall off a corner of their run. In that corner, it’s filled with sand, pebbles and ashes left from bonfires, instead of the shavings & wood chips that make up the ground cover in the rest of their run. In case you’re wondering...yes, they use it regularly. As do they also use ANY other spot in the run AND coop that they feel is best at the time, lol!
Dirt floor of the coop, pots of soil in the run, the garden when the gate is open, but their favorite spot is under the pine trees on the hill behind the house because the dirt is always dry there.
I have 10 six week old SIlver Laced Wyandottes that are taking dust baths in their Juvie coop, in the deep litter of pine chips. Happy chirps, clouds of chips and dust, and the non-bathers peck the bathers. Then they change places, and start all over. Fun for everyone - party on!
We have a wood stove, so we have ashes to throw out, and they love to make dust piles in the ashes, the guineas do too. The guineas make dust holes in the yard, and then when it rains the ducks love to play in them bc they make big puddles.
