Entry #3:
I saw this burrowing owl protecting its burrow/nest last spring during nesting season while on a walk near my house. They are a protected species where I live so we have a lot of them at that time of year.

Mr. WeeGee. Red Front Amazon. Age unknown but by looking at his feet he's an old bird. I drove 4 hours to North Carolina to purchase him from a young couple who just had a baby. And anybody who owns an Amazon parrot knows babies and Amazon parrots don't mix well. WeeGee is very opinionated especially when I wear a baseball cap and he's not too happy that I've let my hair grow out. He's not a bad old man, though and can be quite funny when he takes a notion to do so.

George. This handsome fella came to me around 8 years ago. Just appeared one day and stayed. He supervised the activities in the shop until someone shot him during his daily inspection of the property. He survived with bum leg and now manages bachelor pen. The roosters have no chance against his glorious display and can stop a crow with a look.

This is "Tom," yes...Tom...
He lives at the amazing farm where I took two of my three cockerels to live.
Tom was diligent about standing guard between me and the four or five huge geese that wanted to "inspect" me...or in other words "eat me alive." (At least, that's what it felt like.)
I fell in love with Tom. I'm going to send him a valentine. 😘
