I just candled my 38 Mille Fleur D'uccles from bantyrooster. 30 have veining.

Of the 8 I discarded, only three appeared infertile (go Mike!)

and the rest were scrambled ( go USPS!)

So tomorrow I will conduct an experiment. I will put 15 of the eggs in my Hovabator and leave 15 in the Brinsea. This will make room in the Brinsea for the 10 Light Sussex eggs I received today. Thanks Roy for the two extras!

Then I will compare how the Hovabator eggs do compared to the Brinsea eggs. Follow along with me, won't you?

Looks like hovabator vs brinsea hatch rates on eggs that are nearly the same in condition at this moment.

I was just musing in my head about trying that with my Hovabator and Little Giant, but it occurs to me that while I think the Hovabator is better, I've gotten more hatches from the Little Giant and more lockdown failures from the Hovabator (I do know why...I only attempt to lock down in the Hovabator when I don't feel the Little Giant is up to it due to the weather conditions, etc). I am beginning to see myself trying this come spring and needing to sell/give away a ton of chicks.
