Official Christmas Hatch! c'mon and join

Ok, I cannot maintain humidity above 40% in the Hovabator. I gave up trying and moved the Light Sussex eggs into the Hovabator and the MFD's into the Brinsea. I dialed the humidity up and within 2 minutes it is holding steady at 65%. I put the Light Sussex eggs in a carton in the Hova so I can manually turn them. The Brinsea is kind of small for 21 chicks running around so as they hatch I will move them into the Hovabator to dry and fluff and get their strength before going into the brooder. My one and only little pip let out a big ole' hollar when I picked him up and moved him. Poor baby! Now they really are on lockdown. The temp/humidity in the Brinsea recovers within seconds of replacing the lid, so I think my system will work without harming the chicks.

Here are my Light Sussex in their temporary home with temp stable at 99.5, humidity around 40%, and hopefully soon a few little peanut sized MFD's for company.

that is what I am afraid of too. That first bit is when their neurological system is developed... or so I have read.. really worried about that. But will wait to see if anything developes...

I guess I shouldn't try to do this while working so much overtime. Just have to let it run on hope and faith. I have been putting in about 14 hours a day and looking at the temp and falling into bed and looking the next morning and if it needs anything, you don't have time to watch it to see that it goes back to where it should. May need to put the thing to rest till work quiets down..

corny chick, not going to be able to do a video now, things got nuts around here. I have three spinges stacked pyramid style under my heating wafer, the wells full, a sponge on two of the 4 sides, and a wet sock in one corner...still not enough. back down to 58. I CANNOT break 60 no matter what I do. I even turned to fireplace on the very lowest most infrequent setting so we'll be cold all day and it's not even helping.

maybe it will stabilize for you now and all will be good?

Thanks asylum!

Not moving very fast here ... I have 1 Delaware out, dry and fluffy. 3 other pips, but nothing else. Hmmm!

Congrats to all ....

Warden, I agree ... I think that is a good plan. I can not get the humidity any higher than 55% in the Sportsman. I prefer 65%, and am a bit leery.
