Official Christmas Hatch! c'mon and join

Everyone's Christmas chicks look so cute. I'm going to have to give mine more room soon. The Brabanters are starting to hop, nearly out of the box. The sides are 18" high. Maybe I can buy a little more time if I just use some bird netting to cover the top. The Salmon Faverolles are much calmer than the Brabanters. They walk, rather than dash to get food and water.

Well out of 36 eggs I hatched out four chicks.

After ten days I was down to 14 eggs the rest had blood rings I opened the other 14 eggs yesterday and ten of them looked like they were ready to hatch.

Here is a pic of what I did get I have no idea what they are.

Poco, mine are begining to jump too and I even have some that are giving "flyinh over the 5" roost a shot..." oh boy!

Corny, thanks, I would be happy too, those ones are beautiful! I'm not going to be hatching again until end of march or so when my uncle is ready for some chicks as I dont even have room for the 8 I've got. A friend told me she wanted some so I hatched them and now she's telling me her house isn't warm enough to keep them in and she doesn't have a heat lamp. I told her she could have mine but I have a feeling she just didn't want to deal with them in the cold. So we're trying to figure out if we really can keep all of them, or if we might have to cull the roos at least (if there are any!) DH isn't ever openly fond of my chicks or chickens but he did assist in watching them hatch, and he has a favorite one- the large fluffy one with spots that he says "we're not getting rid of it, and it better not be a rooster. If it is, he can live in the quarentine pen forever" LOL sooo we'll see

LOL no!!! I'm not hairy! ha ha those are DH, and the tiny legs are DS with his cowboy boots lol....

anyone have any advice about the eye, I posted in the emergency section (or will be in a min) becaue the eye looks worse. I took pics and put them there. I tried to rinse it with saline today and put bacitracin ointment on it as there is no way I am going to get to TSC before sat at the earliest. IDK what else to try. There seems to be a white spot under the most swollen spot of his eye in his actual eye, but I cant wipe it off and everytime I try he whips his head around like a mad man and yells at me. He's so tiny I dont really have any other way to hold him, his head, and the qtip even with extra hands I dont know how to keep that head still without smashing it!

Wrap him up in a warm, dry, washcloth papoose style, then you can work on it easier. I warmed the washcloth in the microwave to just a nice tamp, not too hot. That got them calmed down and it was much easier. Then you can hold him in one hand with the head secured and don't have to worry about feet and wings flapping.
