Official Christmas Hatch! c'mon and join

I started with 41 eggs and am now down to 28. The last time I remove duds was last night. My temp have stayed spot on this whole time until I removed those 3 eggs. I am thinking that since my bator has more negative space, it is causing the swings in temperature. So I ran to the coop today and bought a dozen ceramic eggs to fill the empty spots on my turner and act as a heat sink. It seems to be helping so far. I am glad it's the weekend cuz I am going to be up through out the night checking on my babies.

where are you? I have someone giving me some Monday, but they are not real sure they are fertile. They said their rooster only likes certain hens....lol If I don't have any luck I may get back with you. I am about 65 miles east of Springfield. are we anywhere close?

Groan.....I put my eggs into lockdown yesterday and when I removed the egg turner the temperature dropped a few degrees, which I expected, but thought I'd adjusted for. So after 12 hrs, I came home to temp 95. AAAgg! Nevertheless, today is day 19 for 5 of them and some are wiggling. I'll be happy as a lark if any hatch after all the temperature wars I've put them through. The brooder box is ready! I'm hoping to have a few chicks to sell for Christmas! I love seeing pics of those broody hens, especilally with chicks! So cute!

Hey to some of you Missourians, maybe we can do an egg swap this spring. I could swap some porcelain d'uccle eggs for.......? I think I'll start a thread on that......
