YAY!!!!

I just got home and I have 2 healthy chicks but I have to leave again and go the grandma #2's house. Do I just leave them in the incubator til then? I have two more that were to hatch today too but no pips, do you think they will hatch when should I check on them?

The chicks that hatched are still not "fluffy" I would guess they hatched somewhere between 2 and 4pm. Humidity is 72% should I let red plugs out? isn't that too high for the others to hatch?

When do I take the ones that have hatched out?

brandibaby23: My hubby (the guy who pretends to have no interest in the chickens) watched 3 jump out of the zipped egg shells in their egg cartons this morning before I awoke. He was so disinterested that he made noise to wake me up, held up wiggling fingers for how many had hatched & had 3 of them named. He's so funny, big tough guy! His picks were Merry (after Mary who's rooster is the grandpa); Chrisy (part of the 2nd word in the holiday greeting); & Massy (part of the 2nd word). Merry ChrisyMassy. Hmmmmm......... Oh yeah, some had posted earlier to use Santa (no doubt there will be a roo in this bunch).

Here are my Bantam Blue Salmon Faverolles chicks that hatched Dec. 25th so far. Oops, looks like a Dominique egg was in the group afterall. There is still one more pipped & ready to hatch; but it's time for my nap. It's really hard work getting up & down since day 18 to check if all is ok. I'm exhausted I tell you & they did all the work of growing & hatching. I am so grateful for the "dry incubation" info on the BYC & thank you to all that supported, expecially Wheaties/Buddy Henry for advise. I learned so much in this incubation & followed the plan to the "T." The lower humidity, etc. sure made a difference this hatch & I was able to resist opening the incubator before all hatched; it all went so smooth & after a few other attempts this year that were not so smooth. Best wishes to all! Peace on Earth!

Yay! Number Five has been born! Six is darn near out! Five is a red chick, out of a brown egg. Six looks like he may be another yellow chick. And I just discovered that the green egg chick, Elf, has feathers on his legs! I got tired of uploading, and posting pics. But I'm still taking pics...

Brandi- I didnt see your location until now! Kind of makes it a nice evening to stay in with the family and watch them hatch ha ha! I think I'm going to put things away, make some cocoa and have some pie, stick a movie in and sit here and wait for these now SEVEN pips to hatch! That leaves us with two hatched and 6 more to hopefully start!

Pegasuschick: Those are all of your eggs that I hatched. They are strong & beautiful, thanks.

overeasyplz: Saw your pics of your lovely rabbits, your yarns must be wonderful & soft.

The Warden: Just saw your pics of the "wax chick," with the amazing survival story. Love the cartoon you made & your wonderful sense of humor.

Ok, Six is out! I hope the white egg that's pipping on the pointy-end will make it. He's struggling to get out and really cracking through the eggshell! It's hard to keep my hands to myself so I'll just sit on 'em!
