He is such a silly boy... so smart, he really keeps us on our toes. Please ignore the half eaten leash, Riot would like you to know that he did not do that... our other piranha.. I mean dog Bodhi did it.
I love GSD! Had one named Trotswood Heidi von Capezio...been ages since I've had given her back to her breeder when I had NO time to devote to her while I was in college 12 to 14 hours. Not fair to have my parents take care of her either.
Oh she did LOVE to jump the four foot fences reserved for my mom's show collies. So we installed a six foot tall run and she paced back and forth whenever I was out to my car. Poor girl! Once she jumped the fences, she would head for the back porch and laid on the back door. Mom always find her there LOL! She would get past my mom, drive up to upstairs to find me and if I was still in school, she would lay on my bed, waiting for me to come home.
Such sweet dog, like her father and mother! And grandma too! I am glad that the breeder was more than happy to take her back, finding another family she can have a good home to. Breeder loved her temperment and tolerance of kids too. Heidi has been around collies and kids so she got the best of both worlds. I remember her as a pup, all gangy, ears everywhere and once she blossomed into a yearling, she was just goreous!
On Oct 7 of this year, I had to put my beautiful GSD, Rio down, cancer. She was only 3 1/2. It was the most awful thing I have ever done.
My poor Lab, Daisy, didn't get out of bed for 2 weeks, I have never seen a depressed dog before, but I did with her.
Over Thanksgiving I went out to CA to spend it with my family. While I was there I found the most amazing GSD rescue. (I am going to post the link, if admin thinks it doesn't belong, please remove it) www.wgsr.org
It didn't work out getting a new dog at that time, the planes that fly into my small town don't accept live cargo. After thinking and looking at their website everyday, I came across 'the one'! Her name is Tahiti and she is a black GSD. I fell in love. A friend and I hopped in the car and took off for Southern CA on a Friday. I met Tahiti on Saturday. She was very scared and would have nothing to do with me at first, but after an hour or so, she warmed up. I could see the potential in her, and said I would adopt her.
At that point, the brought a 10 week old half GSD half Lab into the room we were in. I was sunk! (not to mention I had two enablers with me saying I couldn't leave her there) Needless to say, I adopted her also. (I know, I know, SUCKER!) Her name is Cienna. I picked both up on Sunday.
After a brutal 16 hour drive, we made it home. The dogs were amazing in the car. Tahiti bonded to me very quickly.
Well, come to find out, Tahiti has some fear based agression, she tried to eat my vet and some friends that came over. She has never even showed me one tiny bit of agression, but other people, watch out. The vet recomended a wonderful trainer by the name of Julie and we had our first appointment on Thursday. It went really well, and we both have lots of work to do, but the trainer and I have a feeling she is going to be an amazing dog.
Cienna is also wonderful, so smart! We start puppy classes on Jan 18th. She already knows how to sit.
I will post pictures as soon as I get them off my phone.
