I have peafowl which are larger in size then chickens. Why can't I get Purina Game Bird Feed in pellet form? A lot of the crumble is wasted. Pellets are easier for the large birds to eat. Also, why aren't there more stores carrying Purina products. I live in Spring Branch, TX 78070. I have to drive into San Antonio or New Braunfel's where they don't carry the products but will order them for me. Seems I remember that the Texas representive for Purina Feed lives in another state. Wouldn't it be wise to have one here in Texas promoting Purina. Other brands are taking over. I want to feed my 30 or so peafowl Purina but it's becoming difficult. I also sell chicks and have quit reccommending Purina because it's to hard to find. Please help. Thanks.

I quit recommending it because Tractor Supply (only Purina dealer near me that stocks it) sells bags that are over four months old. I like purina product and would like to see more available, but only if the stores will sell fresh bags.

For those with peachicks that are concerned about coccidiosis and NE, it's medicated amprolium and bacitracin, I think.

Kathy, I feed my peafowl the Purina "Conditioner" year round except switch to the Purina Gamebird Layena during breeding season. I've tried other feeds but find Purina tends to be the best which my birds deserve. It would be so much better if it could be bought in pellet form. Pellet don't get buggy as easily as the crumble which is another plus. I was to pick up some today in New Braunfels. Called and they don't have it. Most likely forgot to order it. Now I have to stretch what I have until next Friday. Someone in the San Antonio area should have it on hand. Shame on Purina. I can go right down the road to Strutty's and purchase Nutrena Gamebird Pellets but prefer Purina. I may be forced to change brands due to the difficulty of obtaining Purina. There are a LOT of peafowl in this area. I sell at lease a couple hundred chicks each season with people asking me what to feed them. I want to say Purina.

Kathy, I do use the Honor Show Chow for chicks and they really do well on it. I'd keep feeding my peafowl Honor Show Chow Turkey Grower/Finisher but think it is medicated and don't believe it's good to give peafowl medicated feed all the time. That is a good question for our representitive.

I was thinking it would be nice to use the medicated until they're old enough that one doesn't worry as much about coccidiosis and NE. The medicated Turkey starter is use only has the bacitracin, so having something that also has amprolium in it would be nice.

@bdfive , have you looked into pigeon pellets? Thanks for posting here today... you got me thinking and looking at other options now, lol.

I buy Purina at Tractor supply in Richmon and also Stinhausers in rosenburg. I also Know of a Tractor supply in Katy on I 10/ Hope this helps
