Hi all! We have been browsing this site many MANY times over the past year as we moved from California to Missouri and immediately began raising chickens with zero experience. 
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
It has been just over 1 year since we got our first flock!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We are now up to approx. 70 chickens
(3) What breeds do you have?
We started with Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Red and Easter Eggers (falsely advertised as Ameracauna of course
). Now we have a lot of mixed chickens from those breeds as we hatched from our own flock!
A few months ago we started raising Gold Deathlayers as well!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
There is something so therapeutic about taking care of any animal. With chickens it has been a very steep learning curve but we have enjoyed it immensely! They are so entertaining and smart, it is so nice to just hang out with them and be part of the flock.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Most of our time goes to the chickens now (lol), but we enjoy playing games, watching good shows and reading in our free time.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
When I say āweā Iām referring to my wife and I. We moved out here with some family in search of a more peaceful lifestyle and chickens have been a HUGE part of it!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
As newbies we have been referencing BYC for anything and everything unexpected that has come up over this past year. We decided itās finally time to join the community!
