OH Chicken Toes!

This is a body shot of her. You know, frostbite could have done it because I notice she does have a bit on her comb. I put vaseline on it. She was at the horse rescue I work with when I noticed she was hurt. She doesn’t appear to hurt. A breast sore...maybe. I can look at it tomorrow & see. I’ve never seen her bleeding anywhere. Thank you for helping!

Thank you for the photo.
Can she walk o.k.?
Her stance is a bit off to me, but you don't know her history either.
Is she having any trouble roosting?
How's her poop?

I would give her a nutritionally balanced poultry feed, limit treats to no more than 5-10% of her daily intake. Make oyster shell and crushed granite (grit) available free choice.
Poultry vitamins once a week wouldn't hurt for a while either.

Looking at your photo, she does some minor frostbite on her comb, looks like it will be fine, the points may round off over time. She does have some on another toe, but it looks like it's healing o.k., sometimes it takes a long time to see the effects of frostbite, the toe may blacken and fall off too, time will tell. I would just keep watch on it. As for the condition of legs/feet, from what I can see, she doesn't have any indication of scaly leg mites.

I promise, I'm not picking her or you apart. She's a bright eyed girl, I think unless she has an illness or reproductive problems, with a little extra care from you, she will improve. Her beak could use a trim. I would take that slow and just do a little at a time. It's overgrown and she may have a hard time picking up small pieces of food. A lot of times birds are a little underweight and don't do very well if their beak is too overgrown.

Here's some tips on trimming the beak:

Oh my goodness, thank you. She’s walking around but limps. When I brought her home to help her, she had 1 foot curled so I put her on vitamins & 2 days later her foot uncurled & is fine now. The black toe has fallen off. She doesn’t seem to stand very tall. I am trying my best to help her so thank you so much for helping me help her!
