I woke up this morning to find a fresh baby half in it's egg snoozing in a quick nap. There are two more pips and a half zipped buff going to town in there. Holy cow! This is exciting!! I don't want to go to work now. I want to stay and watch them all come out!!

I have to say that this is the coolest thing I have ever seen. It is soooooo tempting to open that incubator and pet the baby. Must not open 'bator, must not open bator, must not open bator...

I am addicted to hatching and it is all y'all's fault.

Amen, sister. Who would ever thought this would become such a habit. I am out of room for chickens and the feed is costing me a fortune but I keep wanting to incubate more. What to do with them?

TN must be running over with chickens because I am middle TN also.

Go Middle TN!

I have one completely out and one with a head out. Whoohoo! Guess it's just as well that I have to go to work. I'd spend all day staring at the incubator.

Hehehe, sounds like me! I've got one batch under my belt and I'm already anxiously awaiting receipt of my next turkey egg shipment!

Congrats on your new babies!

it can be a slow process. I know I have to sit on my hands. When they zip and then it takes forever you just want to help!

Where in middle Tennessee are you? I lived in Murfreesboro as a child and Nashville as an adult. We have moved around a lot. Two of my brothers live in Nashville and the 3rd brother lives in Camden.

Well, just to make this more nerve-wracking and ulcer inducing, the power went out at 7:30 this morning and was out for half an hour.

The temps dropped to 90 an humidity shot up to 95%. One of the two babies that hatched yesterday was yelling at the top of her little lungs and the other one just laid down and napped (I'm a little worried about that one. It's not as zippy as the other and spends a lot of time laying down with its eyes closed and panting.). About the time I unplugged it all to toss it in the car, the power came back on. I plugged a heater in next to the unit to add more heat to the area. Temps are back up to 100 and humidity is around 65%. Hopefully I didn't just lose the rest of them. Two more are pipped. I can see that they are still breathing, so they are okay for now I guess.

This incubating stuff is going to give me grey hair...
