Oh help plz!!!

I just got home and there's no signs of seizure activity. :celebrate You can tell because the pine shavings would be shoved away or piled up with a hole left where she would be laying. Everything is still all evenly spread around. This means that it's been approximately 4 1/2 hours without a seizure. :woot When I looked in on her, she has her neck/head turned back, tucked by a wing on her back like normally ducks will do. This is the first time I've seen her sleep like this since she's been sick. I am so happy right now. This is a beautiful thing to see. Maybe I will be able to get some sleep tonight. I am so glad my hubby will be coming home tomorrow. It has sucked with him being gone all week at a work conference. I'll update tomorrow on how she's doing.

Btw, this is the dog food the vet wants me to use.

Sry I haven't updated on Xena. She was feeling so much better after the injection that she was wanting to eat voluntarily Thurs night, which was so encouraging. I couldn't get her to eat the dog food tho. She just wasn't having any of it. She wanted her own food. Actually got thru the night and to 2:06 pm Friday before she had another seizure. Then she had another 30 minutes later around 2:35 pm. All in all she was seizure free for about 22 hours. Which was AMAZING! I ended up going up to the vet again and they gave her another shot of b complex and showed me how to do it myself at home. So as of today, Sunday Sept. 2nd, her status is:
1. She's had 4 doses of the antibiotics so far. It's a fight trying to put it in her bill but we get at least 98% of it in her. There is just dribbles. Can't help it.
2. I gave her a shot of b complex myself yesterday. I'm supposed to do it once a day so she hasn't had one today as of yet.
3. She has been eating her own food (Purina Flock Raiser) and drinking regularly.
4. Poo'ing all over the place and it's not green anymore like the little bit she did before was.
5. She has been SEIZURE FREE SINCE FRIDAY AFTERNOON! :celebrate:wee:celebrate

I am going to put her in the bathtub and let her swim and see how she does today. She seems to be feeling better. I am truly hoping that she's on the mend. All of the other ducks are still doing great. No symptoms of anything wrong. I don't know why she was affected or what caused her problems. I still have concerns because I know we are not done traveling down this road, but for now I believe we are heading in the right direction and I am hoping she will continue her progress and make a full recovery. :yesss:

This is great news! I am so glad to hear that she is eating!!!
:ya:ya
How much B complex are you injecting each day?
How long/many days did the vet recommend you continue to inject it?

He has me injecting 0.1ml I think it is. As for how long? I think we’re playing that by ear. He gave me a bunch of syringes and said, “you have enough to do twice a day for a week. Long enough to hopefully get her eating regularly and stabilized. Surely we won’t need it longer than that. But I want you to start out at once a day at first and see how she does. If she’s still having seizures go up to twice a day.” So I am going to go at least as long as her antibiotics last and I guess see how she does. That’s going to be the scary part because I’ll forever be worried about the “what if she has another seizure”. But we have to start somewhere. She is continuing to eat really well but I can still tell that she’s not 100% yet.

Would giving it to her orally be good enough? Instead of having to poke her?

I'm so glad she is eating!!!:celebrate

Oh my goodness I'm so glad that she is eating too! :celebrate It's nice to see her old spunkier self coming back.
The reasoning behind injections is so it will absorb faster than giving it orally as well as hopefully keep the seizures at bay so she will continue to eat and drink and get better. When she was having the seizures, they were making her weak and lose her appetite so that's what we're trying to avoid happening again. I will probably touch base with the vet either tomorrow or Weds. and see what his thoughts are going forward. I think giving it to her orally would be fine once I was confident that she was able to eat and drink enough to keep her levels stable. If that makes sense.

Is she getting to play/visit with her siblings for a little bit?

Not yet. I figured that I'd have to wait at least until she finished her antibiotic. Just in case it was something contagious? I'll ask when I talk to the vet. I just don't want any of the others to "catch" something. And that is assuming she had something "catchable". Not knowing if it was just something that she found on the ground and ate, if she was just born with something and it took this long to come to the surface or if she caught a virus and/or infection of some kind. I really don't know. He threw out Botulism but I really don't think that was it. He swears that it was some kind of toxicity like from metal or something but I don't know what could've been in the yard for just her and only her to get a hold of and get sick from. It sucks not knowing the "why". :barnie

I wouldn't worry at all about it being something they others can catch. They would have already been exposed.

Was an X-ray done?
