Oh help plz!!!

Great share what you found please, I'd like to read about it too.

:hugs:fl

I am wondering if it could possibly be this.
Anatipestifer Infection
See more at: http://www.duckdvm.com/condition/new-duck-diease

She has quite a few of the symptoms.
1.Greenish diarrhea (it's practically neon. It went from clear water like to green.)
2.Lethargy
3.Nasal discharge-maybe? I've noticed her nares would be wet. Like you could see liquid trying to bubble out. Even when she hadn't drank anything for a couple of days. I don't know if that is really what they consider nasal discharge because it's not super bad.
4.Head/Neck Tremors
5.Opisthotonus- spasm of the muscles causing backward arching of the head, neck, and spine, as in severe tetanus, some kinds of meningitis, and strychnine poisoning.
Every time she has a seizure her neck/head does this.
6.Laying on back and paddling legs
7.Convulsions (maybe that's what it is instead of "seizure"?)

Idk. I am grasping at straws but I thought it was worth a shot at asking about. Worst case he thinks I am trying too hard to figure it out.
I did try to give her the nutradrench directly without mixing it yesterday. So that's why I had some mixed in water for after. I thought I read somewhere where you're only supposed to give so much. Maybe I am wrong. As for force feeding. I am so nervous about this. I don't want to choke her. Although I do have some food mixed with the medicated water mixture mixed up to a soupy consistency. I did that earlier since she was acting a little perkier. I thought about trying. I just haven't yet.

If she doesn't eat she will die. When you call the vet ask about tube feeding.
@casportpony can one tube a duck? I don't even know.

I know. That's why I was going to try since she seemed to want to drink. She just had a seizure again. It's been about an hr since the last one. Surprisingly to me, she wanted to drink shortly after she came out of it. So I put the food in there next to the water dish. She's trying. She's actually taking sips of each. Now the food is really loose/soupy. But at least it is something. At least she is showing signs of an appetite again. I take this as a good sign. :fl

i have a 5 week old Rouen. I was just outside with them and it had just gotten a drink and then started flopping around. Ended up on its back, legs just kicking. Was just shaking. I tried to turn it over onto it’s feet and it’s head kept trying to fling upside down. I did t know what to do so I just tried massaging it’s neck and stuff as she was laying on the grass. It’s the first and only time I’ve ever seen this. It’s now calm now. Had gotten up and walked over to the other ducks and is standing upright. Hasn’t laid back down. It’s just looking around. Is this wry neck? What should I do? I swear I thought she was gonna die right in front of me. Plz help me.
Maybe he was playing

No. It's a LOT more serious than that.

When you call the vet ask about tube feeding.

The vet isn't in today. Will be in tomorrow and will call me back. If she gets worse I think I may have found an emergency after hours animal clinic that I could possibly take her to. In the meantime I am going to keep trying to get her to drink and eat throughout the day.

Call your vet and ask if you can start her on some sort of sulfa antibiotic, like Bactrin or Albon.

Ok, here's an update. She had a rough night last night. Very frequent seizures. Poor baby. I didn't get a whole lot of sleep. This morning started out ok considering the evening. She was drinking. But she had a couple pretty bad seizures and a few mini seizures in a short amount of time. I mean they were coming like every 30 minutes. She got pretty drained. Wouldn't drink. Still couldn't get her to eat. Between trying to make her comfortable and making sure all of my other animals were ok I was waiting for the Vet to call me back. I got impatient and called up there. I ended up taking her back up there. She had gone 3 hrs without a seizure and was feeling better. Quack grunting and preening and walking around and DRINKING again. Man it was good to see her acting a little better. He looked her over again and we talked and talked. Bless his heart. He really didn't know what to do. But I got him to agree to an antibiotic and they gave her more fluids and he gave me a couple special cans of dog food that is restorative and should help her. Getting her to eat is going to be priority and I am going to see that it happens. He didn't charge me for the fluids or the office visit. Just for the antibiotics and dog food. He's trying to work with me and oh how I appreciate it. She's a fighter and isn't giving up. And neither am I.

Good for you girl!
Did you talk about tube feeding her?

Is she eating the dog food yet?
What antibiotic did you get?

I did. They don’t want me to tube feed just because it can be dicey if you don’t know what you’re doing. And since I got her to sip a few bites of food that I had made soupy they want me to go that route. I think I should learn how to at some point tho. I think it would be valuable information to know. As for the dog food, it’s a couple of cans they have at their office. Idk right now. I’ll have to get back with you on that once I get home. He has to fill out some form for certain antibiotics because it can affect the eggs if laying birds and I guess he didn’t want to do that. So he gave me basically amoxicillin. So we’re hoping that it’ll help whatever infection or whatever she may have going on. I didn’t get home until late so I haven’t tried any more of the dog food other than what we tried at the office. I’m going to try and start her antibiotic tonight tho. I need to give it every 12 hrs. I’m supposed to try the dog food every 2 hrs.
