My poor duckling has had 2 more seizures. I still can’t get her to eat anything. The vet couldn’t either. Barely can get her to drink. We’re at a vet so idk if I’m going to be able to get any answers or not. The vet said her heartbeat was irregular. Other than that, physically she looks good. She’s still a bit shaky. They’re checking a couple of things on her and depending on how those come out, I’ll go from there. Here’s hoping for the best.![]()
Idk. I can ask.Can he teach you how to tube feed?
Ask if he thinks she needs to be tube fed or not.Idk. I can ask.
Ok. Here's an update. The vet checked her over. Checked her eyes, listened to her heart. She has an irregular heartbeat that caught his attention. She said overall that she looked healthy. Said she was a little skinny but nothing major. She weighs 2.9 lbs. Her diet that we're feeding her was good. He checked for calcium and glucose levels. A deficiency in those can cause/lead to seizures. Both came back normal. I talked him in to doing a vitamin b complex injection, in the hopes that it would help give her a boost. We haven't been able to entice her to eat anything since the seizures started. They tried some green pasty stuff. Nothing. They even tried canned cat food. She just is not having it. Just turns her head away. We have no pesticides in yard. No toxins that I can think of. Her pool is a kiddie pool and not a pond that's fished out of or anything. We can get her to drink a little bit and it's mixed with vitamin b complex and a niacin pill for extra measure. I am out of electrolyte stuff. I will have to pick some more up at Tractor Supply tomorrow. We are at a loss. The other bloodwork that they could do would cost $203, and it would have to be sent off. So that's why we did the glucose and calcium because they can be done in house. I have done what I can. As I was pulling in my driveway she had another seizure. I stopped the car and went to try and comfort her. Her poor head was buried in the shavings while she was having it. I don't know if she could've suffocated but that's what went thru my head so that was scary. That makes 5 so far today. I have her in her brooder box. I have her some water in there. She has finally drank a few sips. I mixed her up some of her food with a tiny bit of chicken broth, but mostly water and made her a soupy mash. I tried giving her some but she wouldn't eat. I am hoping she will try it at some point. She hasn't yet. I am supposed to call the vet in the morning and let him know how she is doing. I don't know what else to do for her but hope for the best. How are you and miss duckie?
