Oh my gosh! I would absolutely love to try hatching all those eggs! I have a coop with Silkies, but I do need some variety. All my little chickens are pets only! They have a predator safe coop with a fenced in run for those days when we aren't home. When we are home they pick around our hobby farm and eat all sorts of bugs and grass. In the winter they get a heat lamp and our coop is insulated. In the summer the ducks have a little kiddie pool. They sure would be spoiled!
Here is a pic of our little coop:
And here is a pic of my favorite rooster Lenny:
Oh, and my avatar is Dudley my duckling that I hatched last year. I threw a few Mallard eggs in the incubator expecting them to be infertile and 28 days later Dudley arrived! Of course I couldn't let the little bugger stay outside by himself in a brooder so he spent over a month in the house following me around. He got to swim in the bathtub and run around the living room/kitchen/bathroom/basement. He imprinted on people and would try to follow us upstairs and cry when we had to set him down in the brooder. Darn I miss little ducklings.
I sure would be grateful if I could try hatching some chicken and duck eggs! And when they do hatch I have a bunch of little Silkie momma wanna-bes who would love to raise them. And if I dont have any broody hens at the moment I have a giant stock tank that doubles as a brooder. I'm going to be honest though and say that I don't think I could handle poults at the moment. But ducklings and chicks are my favorite!
Thanks for doing this! Even if you don't pick me, it sure is fun to watch this thread.
