I just got back from the grocery store, and was planning on buying a couple cornish game hens. since mine want be ready til next week. THOSE SUCKERS WAS $4.67 EA. WTH. I remember when you could get them for like $1.99.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I suspect it has to do with increased feed prices, due to increased gas prices. Everything in the supermarket is going up.

Have you noticed that the price of gasoline has risen sharply in the last few weeks?

The Ethanol plants that were closed are now operating at full bore and buying up any corn in sight and using that corn to make ethanol. Then it is blended with oil to make the gasoline at the pump. Oh, and instead of blending 10% ethanol , now it is at 15%. Also, my miles per gallon for my car droped by 5.7 miles to the gallon with the 10%,

guess what it will drop to next.

Transportation costs for the corn to the feed mills, then feed to feed stores as well as the processed chickens to the grocery stores goes up too. Since corn is one of the main ingredients of chicken feed, less corn is available ... the price goes up, UP, and AWAY for feed then for all chickens.
