I had a presumed hawk attack and kill a barred rock hen. Daytime, feathers everywhere, guts pulled out, chest eaten. 
Then one day, I was driving the Mule out to take feed to the animals, and I saw a hawk fly off with my Polish pullet still alive and screaming! The hawk had apparently killed a larger bird and was feeding. When disturbed, it grabbed the polish and took off. I tried to follow, but lost it in the trees.:'(
