Oh no broody again

Hi well my banty Belle is trying to go broody again. I thought she was trying to wean the little ones off the last few days. She laid an egg yesterday in the middle of their pen. Today another egg in the dog crate and she is sitting on it now and doing that clucky thing. Babies are 8 weeks old. They seem kinda lost and 2 of them were resting on the grass outside of the pen. I guess I will take her egg as it is not fertile. Dare I look for some fertile eggs?

Congrats on the broody... If you have coop and pen space, I say go for it. My problem is never enough housing for the newbies.

My buff orp has been broody for 2 months and we're just tired of it. We've been so patient, but decided to play hard-ball and moved her to a wire rabbit hutch to hopefully break her of it. So nice to get eggs without her pecking at us.

For what it is worth, when the hens went broody my mother used to give them a bath. Just dunk them, don't drown them. That used to make them real mad, mad as a wet hen. But it did the trick.

Okay I think I jumped the gun. She was up and out of her dog crate and there were then 2 eggs in there. So maybe she was just laying and clucking to the babies she already has cause they were like mom whats going on. Anyway I took eggs away so we will see.

Bigzio, I would love to have more but like you I don't have much more room.

My Buffy is trying to go broody again too. Her baby was born May 5th. She weaned him a few weeks ago and about a week ago, she started staying in the nesting box. She does not bite me, just growls when I get the eggs from under her. But on the bright side, she is not being mean to her baby anymore. He can hang out by her (while she is in the nest box) and she won't attack him.
