Oh no, help...completely fixed side air cell??

My side air cell was the first to pip. I couldn't understand why the pip was so close to the fat end. There was very little air cell volume and he externally pipped very early, within an hour or two of the first faint peeps inside the incubator.

He has popped off some shell but is not ready to hatch.

He hadn't done anything since early this afternoon, I have excess humidity Amy-style, and he wasn't talking. So I took a quick peek. Poor guy pecked a blood vessel in the membrane getting the internal pip done. There is quite a bit of blood surrounding him inside the shell, and it had glued membrane to his eye. A quick fingertip full of water uncovered the eye, and he opened it and looked at me. But he is weak, and still not ready for hatch. I've wrapped him in the tried and true damp paper towel and put him back in the nice warm incubator.

Pip #2 is talking to me now.

No more pips yet, and day 28 starts in just 18 hours.

Th
. Very exciting!

Walnut Hill...how is that chick doing? I came home from work last evening and found incubator number 2 running hot. At about 102.5 . I am not positive, but I may have lost one of my Dorkings with the side air cell...there are actually two eggs like that's well, the one I am questioning has an air cell almost at the pointy end, on the side. The embryo appears to be stuck at the top and I saw now movement. The other one, is the one pictured here. I will candle again today to see if I can see movement. (Day 9). I am going to get a better incubator after this. I am using two lg 9300s.one has a fan kit, the other is still air. It was the still air that went whacky with just a two degree change in room temp! The embryos that are not floating so high in the eggs seem to be fine. It is just these two that I am worried about so far. :(

The side air cell poult did not make it. He pipped a blood vessel (which if the air cell was in the normal position, it would not have been there) and bled pretty heavily inside the shell. By this morning, he was dead.

I ended up with three poults.

Congrats on your poults! What kind are they? I am sorry to hear about the one with the side air cell. I candled last night and I really think I have lost the two I have. Today would be day 10 for those Dorking eggs. I was able to see them move a couple of days ago. Have not been able to see one move and not sure if it was just wishful thinking about the other last night. How long would you recommend I wait to take them out...and maybe I should do an eggtopsy? If I am not positive they are goners, I would like to leave them in. And...I am about to post pics of my very first turkeys on the turkey thread. Have lots of questions...
