Pictured today at 8 weeks and 2 days of age...

Mixed mutt, hatched from a green egg so has some EE in the mix.

He/she is the same size and weight as my EE pullet from the same hatch (very slight build) but I think I see saddle feathers coming in and a hint of color in the comb... My little mixed brahma/sussex roo from the same hatch is much bigger and heavier but this can be attributed to hereditary factors, I think?

I so wanted this one to be a girl! Rats!

(What do you think though? Definite roo, or?)

WOW! What a good looking roo. (I think) That comb is pretty pink and puffy....those saddles are pointy, and in most of those pics, his pose is pretty roostery. Sorry, but I *think* it's a boy, though...it has some EE in it. I would wait a couple more weeks before deciding on sex.

i think it looks very rooish; too much comb for EE at that age. not to be mean, but that is a prime example of a cross gone wrong. it's so ugly it's cute.

Ah well, DH and I agreed we'll wait and see how he turns out and if he's sweet and not too loud, he'll get to stay with us regardless.

I find him just gorgeous in a wild and crazy way - still a scraggly baby though!

We've renamed him Jericho
