I opened the lid to look at my rescue chicken, and it tried to fly out at me. I pushed its chest to get it back in the box, and it kinda threw up. Is it ok? I feel so bad.

probably ok...

just to be on the safe side:
feel the crop ..just before roost time, when it should be full.
then recheck in the morning before she eats ..it should be empty..if not..post back.
check for any lumps or bumps, or grainy feeling, or if it feels like a balloon (and doesn't go down by morning).
also check for sour smell.

do you know where the crop is?
near the bottom of the neck where it meets the chest..slightly to the right..(hen's right)
feels like a little sac..but fills when they eat or drink.

Sammi - Thank you so much for all of the info!

It had just eaten, and alot! The poor thing has almost been starved. It was completely normal today, and eating again.

Stressed birds immune systems go down... so keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't develop any respiratory infections

Watch for
1. dropping go yellow and foamy
or
2. Face or eye or sinus swelling ... especially the eye area
or
3. Strange sounding breathing

Treat immediately if you find this .. the sooner it is dealt with the sooner the bird will respond and be fine... stress does some terrible things to chickens..
