Her name was Nosy Nellie even before this? That's some girl ya' got there!
Her name has been Nosie Nellie since she was a chick. She is always the first to investigate and gets into stuff she has no business being in. She has a sister that looks just like her named Mayzel. May is very cautious and waits for Nellie to go first. Which Nellie will mow over any chicken in her way to be the first.
I was cooking spaghetti that night a favorite chicken treat. They get leftovers. I sorta have a problem now since Nellie knows to use the door. I have to lock it and this makes the door unavailable for the dogs. My chihuahua has been on guard at her door and takes care of Nellie most the time, but I don't want to come home to chicken poop in my kitchen
Gorden the rooster has been caught peeking his head in but so far he fears whats inside.
Nellie so far only will use the door if she hears me in the kitchen, she's after treats. It's become normal to see her standing in the laundry room peeking into the kitchen. If I toss some treats outside to her then she won't bother trying to get inside.
lol th is post is great. i am building a house at the moment and i think i will have a dog door in my backdoor so the chickens can come in (and so the dog can get out too)
OMGosh, I am installing a doggy door. This was my exact worry. My chicken is named Meal2, but she is just as nosy. If I thought she wouldn't poop in the house I would let her right in. I guess I need to invest in the collar thing. Well, unless one of you has successfully housebroken your chickens.
