98% of the time your bird will be fine...it will come out looking almost like how it went in.

the problem occurs when it is a cheap piece of jewelry with the type of metal that can cause heavy metal poisoning... a sign of this is bright green poo and neurological symptoms (throwing head back...walking backwards or in circles)... if your bird shows any of these signs you will need to get to a vet and have it removed ...

Haven't seen the earring yet and I did check her poop yesterday. It was one of the few real gold earrings I own. LOL

I had a pullet swallow a small grape sized jade pendant once with hook on the end! Snatched it right off my neck. Your bird should be fine.
