Oh NO need help!!

I think I have an old can of it, if not I can go to the tack store tomorrow and buy some. Also what is the blue stuff?

Its called Blue-Kote or wound-kote. It is also a spray but the other is my first choice for deep wounds. A thick coat of Nitrofurazone would also work if you have that.

I have blu kote. What about spraying with blu kote and then spraying the the aluminum stuff (I forget what it's called)

If you want to examine the wound get her in an quiet area that is very nearly dark (calms them down). Examine area using a flashlight. So long as she is in an area where flies cant get to her she should heal up with just the blukote. We've had to deal with toms that have been attacked by foxes/dogs with some pretty ugly wounds on flanks. We mixed betadine with water and irrigated wounds, and sprayed Adams tick and flea spray on surface of wings (not our turks and could only get to them every couple of days). This was during August and the turks were outside. Both healed up and didn't get infected/eaten by maggots. Clean the wound of any debris and apply the blukote. Just check daily for any drainage/unusual smell. If the wound is deep you might want to start treating with an injectable antibiotic as a prophylactic.

Ok I'm feeling a little better about the wound this morning. It's not so much as deep as it is wide. I got a good look at it this morning. It basically is the skin has been torn and is drooping down, basically she has been skinned so to speak. It's drying out, should I try to keep it moist? I don't think even a vet could have stitched it. I have tried my best to clean it by pouring water on it. Then I sprayed Blu Kote on it. It's hard to clean it on my own because I have to hold her and hold her wing up with one hand and do anything I can with the other.

She is in a very large dog crate with clean shavings, food and water. She is happily eating and doesn't seem bothered by the wound. She is more ticked that she isn't able to be with the other birds and get into "her" house. You wouldn't even know she is wounded at all because her wing completely covers it.

A towel over her head will calm her down. Wrap her head and wings in the towel, lay her on her side (wound up). hold her there for a minute. She'll calm down and then you can lift the towel and examine her wound. Keep her head/neck covered.

Thought I would update. Right now she is living in my horse trailer

She is mad that she is away from the other birds but doing well! Even laid and egg between last night and this morning. She is eating and drinking. I'm amazed at the ability that animals have to do with horrific wounds! If this happened to a human we would be crippled. I don't smell any infection, although I do have a cold but nothing smells bad. It looks good, no bleeding or draining. I sprayed her with the Blu Kote yesterday, will look today and see if it needs more.
