I only have 3 little Bantams. 2 Silkies (who are roos) and one Polish who is a sweet and loveable pullet. My problem... I am illegal... can't have roos. August 3rd they will all be 3 months old... and I have a home waiting for the roos. I have ordered 5 sexed Silkies from MPC but they won't be here till August 12th. I also know I can't introduce the Polish to the babies for some time. Will she be okay alone for a month or so? She is still living in a rabbit hutch in the sun room... the coop isn't done yet. They do get to spend a decent amount of time running the yard when we are home.

What do you think? Will she be okay alone for a while?

She'll be ok. Pay her lots of attention & give her small treats frequently. If possible, try to put the chicks where she can see or at least hear them.......

If she is really sweet, she might love the chicks! When they are a week or so old, put her in with them and see how she does! Watch them carefully! I have had several pullets that just loved the babies!!!

Thanks, that makes me feel better. She is a very friendly little girl, and even fell asleep snuggled on my chest last night. We have been trying to spend a lot of time with her one on one so she gets used to it and it won't be out of the norm when the roos leave.

She is in a nice rabbit hutch in the sunroom... and is about a foot off the floor. I'm hoping to put the babies in their bin and put it on the floor next to her hutch. This way she can hear them and even put her head through the bars and look down to see them.

I would be thrilled if she would mother them... she is very sweet and gentle and a little on the quirky side. She is a joy to watch and hold.

Thanks again.
