Oh NO! What are these new feathers?? Another Roo?!?!?

I noticed tonight on my STUNNING (imo) fuzziest footed beautiful cochin chick these weird striped feathers coming in under (her?) chin??

Are these indicative of a beautiful giant Rooster that will also sadly leave my flock, or just signs of possible mutt-ness?

3 weeks old and what I thought was a black cochin bantam

That's just a barring pattern on the feathers, nothing to do with gender.

so would that be a mutt trait? i cannot seem to find anything that would have a solid black body with barred neck feathers?

They are just regular feathers. Nothing wrong.

The whole body will look like that, the entire bird will be barred.

It's okay- it's just a barred cochin. Just because you saw a picture of a barred cochin roo doesn't mean there aren't barred cochin females But yes, that does look like a pullet.
